One of the world’s leading shipping groups, France-based, CMA CGM, recently announced they had made a significant investment to support the Marseilles-based start-up specialized in autonomous underwater solutions, Notilo Plus. The investment will help Notilo Plus launch their industrialization.
Notilo Plus was founded in 2016 to develop autonomous underwater systems featuring artificial intelligence and data enhancement capabilities. Located in both Marseilles and Lyon the company develops “made in France” autonomous solutions for the maritime transportation, leisure and infrastructure sectors.
In December 2018, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the CMA CGM Group, Rodolphe Saadé presented Notilo Plus the Jacques Saadé Award during the Trophées de l’Economie 2018. Since the award, Notilo Plus has joined the international incubator and accelerator of innovative start-ups in Marseilles, ZEBOX.
The CMA CGM Group have been continuously impressed with the development and potential offered by Notilo Plus and decided to work with their teams to devise a solution dedicated to the Group’s vessels. Thanks to the collaboration between the two companies, Notilo Plus has developed a customized drone along with a digital monitoring platform that features bespoke algorithms to optimize the hull inspection of vessels.
Hull inspections will now become automated and be carried out more frequent as a result of the new system, along with improving the productivity of the Group’s vessels and standardizing safety inspections.
