CMA CGM Group Phnom Penh Express Barge Service

The CMA CGM Group, a world leader in shipping and logistics, has launched the Phnom Penh Express Barge, the first weekly fixed-schedule barge service connecting Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. This new service is managed by CMA CGM Inland Services (CCIS) through its joint venture, GIL1, the Group’s global inland logistics arm.

The maiden voyage departed from the Gemalink terminal in Cai Mep, Vietnam, to the Phnom Penh Autonomous Port (PPAP) in Cambodia. This shuttle service provides shippers with reliable and efficient transportation between the two countries.

Key features of the Phnom Penh Express Barge service:

  • Connectivity: Facilitates seamless cargo movement between PPAP and Gemalink, connecting to CMA CGM’s global network, including key destinations in the US and Europe.
  • Efficiency: Offers a weekly fixed-schedule service, ensuring reliable and predictable transportation for customers.
  • Integration: Leverages CMA CGM’s integrated ecosystem, including Gemalink, its global shipping network, and end-to-end logistics solutions through CCIS and GIL.

“The Phnom Penh Express Barge service showcases the strength of CMA CGM’s integrated ecosystem,” said Esra Bora, General Director of CMA CGM Vietnam. “This synergy allows CMA CGM to offer unmatched efficiency and reliability, further demonstrating our commitment to supporting the growth of our customers.”

This new service follows the recent announcement of CMA CGM’s e-Barge project, a 100% electric inland waterway transport solution in Vietnam. Both initiatives demonstrate the company’s commitment to providing innovative and sustainable solutions for its customers in Southeast Asia.
