Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has named OOCL Grace, the second of seven 24,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container vessels being built for the carrier by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (NACKS).
The naming ceremony was held at NACKS’ shipyard, where Ms. Annetta Duan, Global Logistics Director of Hayco Group, officially named the vessel.
Advancing OOCL’s Fleet Renewal
OOCL Grace follows the delivery of sister vessel OOCL Wisdom, the first ship in the series, which was named in May 2026 before completing its first green methanol bunkering and commencing its maiden voyage to Europe in July.
The seven-vessel programme forms part of OOCL’s broader fleet renewal strategy, combining additional capacity with lower-emission propulsion technology and ongoing digitalisation.
At 24,000 TEUs, the vessels rank among the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ships and will be progressively introduced into OOCL’s global network.
Supporting Greener Shipping Operations
OOCL said the successive delivery of the new vessels will help optimise capacity deployment and network configuration while supporting its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its operations.
The company continues to invest in methanol dual-fuel technology as part of its long-term strategy to develop a more modern and sustainable fleet while maintaining reliable services across key global trade routes.
