South Korean ocean carrier HMM has announced its participation in Breakbulk Europe 2026, operating a standalone exhibition booth at the Rotterdam Ahoy convention center in the Netherlands.
Breakbulk Europe is widely recognized as the world’s largest trade fair for project cargo, heavy-lift, and breakbulk logistics. The 2026 edition convenes over 12,000 logistics executives, major container lines, and international shippers representing approximately 120 countries.
Specialized Cargo Capabilities and Fleet Deployment
Specialized cargo encompasses oversized or heavy-lift freight—such as industrial plant machinery, wind turbine components, and heavy equipment—that exceeds the dimensions of standard shipping containers. Transporting these oversized units requires specialized gear (including open-top or flat-rack containers) and precise crane operations during loading and discharge, commanding premium freight rates compared to standard containerized cargo.
HMM established a dedicated special cargo organization in 2007 and has continually expanded its operational expertise in non-standard freight handling. The carrier leverages two core fleet assets to support project cargo movements globally:
- Global Container Network: Utilizing specialized container equipment for stable, scheduled ocean transit.
- Diversified Bulk Fleet: Operating dry bulk carriers and Multi-Purpose Vessels (MPVs) capable of handling ultra-large and heavy-lift project freight.
Strategic Focus on High-Value Cargo
HMM has maintained a continuous presence at Breakbulk Europe since 2012. By participating in the flagship Rotterdam event, the carrier aims to showcase its engineering and transport capabilities for complex, high-value cargo while offering tailored multimodal logistics solutions to global shippers.
An HMM official highlighted that participating in Breakbulk Europe enables the company to demonstrate its technical ability to transport complex freight profiles, while leveraging its integrated logistics network to deliver customized shipping solutions for diverse project requirements.
