Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT), a long-standing customer of Konecranes, has placed an order for 15 additional Hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers. The order was secured in Q4 2024, and deliveries are currently underway, with completion expected in April 2026.

PNCT, a major container terminal at New Jersey’s Port of Newark, relies on the performance and reliability of Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers in its demanding operating environment. Having commissioned its 200th Konecranes Noell Straddle Carrier in mid-2023, PNCT’s decision to order more units reflects its continued confidence in the technology.

The new Hybrid Konecranes Noell Straddle Carriers are expected to enhance performance while reducing operating costs and CO2 emissions. PNCT currently operates 124 Konecranes Noell straddle carriers.

Charlie Ferlisi, Director of Engineering and Equipment Services at PNCT, emphasized the value of Konecranes’ performance, reliability, and local service presence, stating, “Konecranes sets the industry standard in container handling performance, reliability and eco-efficiency. This combination of innovation and top-notch service is what makes Konecranes such a great port partner.”

The new straddle carriers will be assembled and commissioned between Q4 2025 and Q1 2026.

Peter Kania, Sales Director, Straddle Carrier Business Unit, Konecranes, highlighted the ongoing partnership with PNCT and the focus on eco-efficient container handling, stating, “This agreement is another significant milestone in our partnership with PNCT. Together we’re focused on eco-efficient, high-performance container handling in the modern era.”

This contract aligns with Konecranes’ Ecolifting initiative, which aims to increase the environmental benefits of its products and services while reducing customers’ carbon footprints.
