As companies around the world work towards achieving net-zero Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, the need for environmentally friendly transportation throughout the supply chain is continuously growing. Yusen Logistics, a global leading supply chain logistics company have announced that they will be providing a carbon offset service that aims to achieve net-zero GHG emissions for all Less-than Container (LCL) shipments in ocean freight forwarding at no additional costs starting from April 2022 onwards.
The carbon offset service will cover all LCL shipments arranged by Yusen Logistics Group including Transcontainer Limited. More specifically, they will enable net-zero GHG emissions transportation by offsetting unavoidable GHG emissions with carbon credits which are verified projects by an independent organization.
Yusen Logistics will also be purchasing several qualified projects that contribute to climate change and improvement of the local communities. The Group’s environmental target is to achieve net-zero GHG emissions for all services by 2050. Launching a carbon offset service is a key milestone for Yusen Logistics further development of green solutions. Additionally, as a strategic partner to generate sustainable growth with their customers, and as a core company of the NYK Group whose growth strategy is ESG management, the company will continue to promote initiatives based on a long-term sustainable perspective.
To drive down emissions, Yusen Logistics has set plans offset GHG by acquiring carbon credits and participating in projects that would reduce GHG emissions.
