Yusen Logistics Hydrogen Transport Launch Ceremony

On March 28, 2023, the Yusen Logistics Hydrogen Transport Launch Ceremony was successfully held at YL-CN Kunshan Huaqiao Logistics Center. Mr. Hidenori Hara, then East Asia Chief Region Officer/Executive Officer of Yusen Logistics, and Mr. Tomoo Moriya, President and CEO of Yusen Logistics China, welcomed government officers and partners to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and witnessed the important moment together.

Environmental issues are among the most urgent and critical areas, and carbon emission control has reached a consensus worldwide. Launching a hydrogen fuel cell truck service for road transportation in YL-CN is a crucial step in the ESG practice of the Yusen Logistics Group.

The landing of this project was recognized by the Huangpu District Government, and Ms. Jin Shaojing, Director of Shanghai Huangpu District Commission of Commerce, said, “Yusen Logistics’ hydrogen transportation project is an important symbol of the transformation to green and low-carbon development, conforms to the development trend of high efficiency and low energy consumption and also conforms to the development requirements of high-standard economic and trade rules. In addition, it conforms to the Chinese-style modernization, pushes the industry towards high-end, optimizes the modern logistics system, and steadily promotes the high-quality development goal of energy conservation and carbon reduction.”

YL-CN joined the Green and Low-Carbon Development Branch of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association in March of this year as a founding member. “Carbon reduction in road transportation is the key to the low-carbon transition in the transportation sector, in which carbon emissions from trucks play a pivotal role. Yusen Logistics launched its hydrogen energy transportation business in a timely manner to help logistics customers easily achieve the goal of “zero carbon emissions”, which is of epoch-making significance.” Mr. Huang Feng, President of the Shanghai Foreign Investment Association, recognized the low-carbon transformation of Yusen Logistics.

During the ceremony, Yusen Logistics showed all guests the truck and the prospects of the hydrogen transportation business. Mr. Tomoo Moriya, President and CEO of Yusen Logistics China, said the hydrogen transportation project is just a start. In the future, Yusen Logistics will continue to promote initiatives based on long-term sustainable development prospects in line with our brand promise, and we are willing to work with all partners to promote sustainable social development.
