Wan Hai Lines recently conducted a ship naming ceremony for their latest vessel, the WAN HAI A16, at the Samsung Heavy Industries Geoje shipyard. The event, which took place on the 5th of June, also included a charitable initiative. Ms. Chueh Yao Guey-Ling, the spouse of Mr. Chueh Meng-Chang, the C.O.O of FAR EASTERN NEW CENTURY CORPORATION Petrochemical Business, performed the christening rituals to bestow blessings on the vessel for good fortune and safe journeys.

The WAN HAI A16 is the ninth vessel in the 13,100 TEU series containerships signed by Wan Hai Lines and Samsung Heavy Industries. Expected to be delivered in mid-June, the vessel will join Wan Hai Lines’ Asia to the West Coast of North America service, known as “AP1”. The 335-meter long, 51-meter wide vessel with a draft of 16 meters boasts a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots. It is equipped with cutting-edge engines that prioritize energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Notably, the series has obtained the “Smart Ship Notation” certification, which allows for real-time monitoring of ship navigation data and equipment operation conditions, ensuring safe and reliable maritime transportation services.

The consecutive delivery of Wan Hai Lines’ 13,100 TEU series vessels reflects the company’s commitment to expanding and upgrading its own fleet. This contributes significantly to enhancing the company’s shipping capacity and market competitiveness, ultimately providing customers with comprehensive and high-quality services. In addition to the ship naming, Wan Hai Lines also demonstrated their commitment to corporate social responsibility by making a donation to the local charity organization, the Daon-Child Care Center. This gesture underlines the company’s motto, “We carry, we care”, and its dedication to not only providing quality service to customers but also making a positive impact in the community.
