RCL launches New Cargo Vessel NATTHA BHUM

RCL recently accelerated plans to expand its shipping routes and launched a new cargo ship named NATTHA BHUM worth $27.25 million. As a result, the company currently has a fleet of 48 ocean vessels.

Mr Twin Luck Tantuwanit, Managing Director, RCL Public Company Limited (RCL), revealed that the company aims to expand its service base into high-growth regions such as India, the Middle East, and Africa, prepare to invest in new vessels to replace old vessels and expand their potential, as well as enhance fleet capacity to expand both revenue and sustainability growth along with environmental protection and pollution reduction.

Dr Simmon Atikul, Chairman of the Board of Directors RCL Public Company Limited, held the naming ceremony of NATTHA BHUM with the honour of having Mr Teerapong Chansiri, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer, Thai Union Group Public Company Limited, join the ceremony, along with Mrs Pornnapa Jansiri. Mr Kriangkrai Chaisiriwongsuk, Director of the Port Authority of Thailand and business partners attended the event and visited the vessel and demonstrated the use of modern equipment. Reduce pollution, protect the environment and see the efficiency of container management on ships.

Nattha Phum (NATTHA BHUM) means “Land of the Philosophers”. It measures 172 meters long, 27.5 meters wide and can carry 1930 TEU cargo. Various technologies have increased, such as reducing the weight of the hull and increasing the potential of large machines. As a result, a smaller amount of oil is used at the same speed and distance. Therefore, CO2 (Green House Effect) emissions are also reduced. In addition, the vessel also has exhaust filters to help reduce the amount of sulfur released into the normal atmosphere by 3.5 per cent to no more than 0.5 per cent, meeting ESG and sustainability policies.

In 2022, RCL companies ranked 26th Among global sea freight providers and were at the level of a ton of marine container carriers in the region. RCL operates a fleet of 48 vessels ranging in size from 800 TEU to 12,000 TEU.
