MSC Introduces New Carioca Service to Enhance Trade Connectivity

MSC has proudly announced the introduction of its new weekly service, called Carioca, which will facilitate trade between Asia and the East Coast of South America. The new service aims to enhance connectivity and frequency between Asia and the important trade lane, in addition to the existing Ipanema and Santana services.

Notable features of the Carioca service include the addition of Itapoa and Rio de Janeiro calls in its port coverage, improved connections to Navegantes, Vitoria, and the River Plate region via Rio de Janeiro, and increased sailing frequency from Korea and China to South Brazil (Santos and Paranagua).

The full rotation of the Carioca service covers the following ports: Busan – Shanghai – Ningbo – Shekou – Singapore – Rio de Janeiro – Paranagua – Itapoa – Santos – Itaguai – Colombo – Singapore – Busan.

The MSC YOKOHAMA is set to embark on the first sailing of the Carioca service from Busan on July 19, 2024, voyage QI429A. From Thailand, cargo will be transshipped in Singapore via the KIWI service, which is scheduled to depart from Laem Chabang port on July 24. This new offering signifies MSC’s commitment to enhancing trade connections and promoting efficient maritime transport.
