MSC African Fine Coffees Conference

MSC is pleased to share that it participated in the African Fine Coffees Conference, a significant gathering for global coffee professionals held from 6 to 10 February 2024 at the Millennium Hall Centre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The event brought together experts, coffee growers, traders, roasters, and industry stakeholders to discuss the current trends and advancements within the African coffee sector.

As a leading entity in global coffee transportation, MSC eagerly anticipated engaging with industry peers, networking, and delving into pertinent discussions about the distinct challenges and opportunities inherent in African coffee production. The AFCC served as a pivotal platform for knowledge exchange, and MSC recognized the invaluable opportunity to connect with industry professionals and gain insights into the latest industry developments.

Africa is a key contributor to the global coffee market, having facilitated coffee exports valued at over $3.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, with Ethiopia and Uganda emerging as frontrunners. MSC has played a part in this success story and boasts an extensive network of shipping routes that link Africa’s primary coffee-producing nations like Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda to pivotal markets in Europe, Asia, and North America.

During the conference, MSC highlighted its comprehensive suite of hinterland and logistics solutions that bolster the African coffee industry, including road and rail transportation, warehousing, packaging, distribution, and value-added services like quality control and traceability. The company’s dedicated and experienced coffee team also showcased its strengths, including its strategic location in regions that matter most to coffee production, the use of food-grade containers that meet stringent food safety requirements, and weekly services from Mombasa that ensure prompt delivery of coffee shipments to their destinations.

MSC also emphasized its commitment to supporting the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in promoting regional integration and economic growth. As a company that aligns with the goals of AfCFTA, MSC’s involvement in the African coffee industry holds promise in supporting trade expansion and regional economic development.
