Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) recently celebrated the arrival of M.V. COSCO Excellence, an OOCL-operated vessel, at Terminal D, Laem Chabang Port. This marks the vessel as the first to arrive at the port as part of Ocean Alliance’s East Coast Express 1 (ECX1) Trans-Pacific trade route.

The ECX1 service is a vital maritime transportation offering from Ocean Alliance, which includes major industry players such as OOCL, COSCO, CMA CGM, and Evergreen. The service entails a port rotation from Laem Chabang to Cai Mep, Hong Kong, Yantian, Xiamen, Shanghai, Panama Canal, New York, Charleston, Suez Canal, and back to Laem Chabang Port.

On the same day, HPT welcomed three large vessels from a leading ocean carrier to Terminal D at Laem Chabang Port. These vessels boast an impressive overall length of 366 – 399 meters, showcasing HPT’s capacity, operational prowess, and infrastructure capability as a global terminal.

Looking ahead, HPT has announced plans to acquire four gantry cranes and 8 RTG cranes for operation at Terminal D in the coming months. Notably, these new pieces of equipment will all be electric, underscoring HPT’s dedication to environmental protection and sustainability goals. Moreover, this move is expected to enhance container loading efficiency and elevate the overall service quality provided to customers.
