Hutchison Ports Thailand (HPT) and the Faculty of International Maritime Studies at Kasetsart University Sriracha Campus (IMS, KU) have signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) to extend existing academic cooperation, collaborate on research that helps the sustainable development of Thailand’s shipping industry, and support the learning of future maritime sector employees through the provision of internship opportunities. The agreement will also see HPT and IMS, KU continue their joint work on CSR initiatives in the community.
“We have built a strong relationship with Kasetsart University’s Faculty of International Maritime Studies over the past few years, and I am delighted to extend our working relationship. By working together, we will strengthen sustainable initiatives in the community and ensure tomorrow’s maritime workforce and leaders have an insightful education into how the port industry works and understand why sustainability is integral to its future success. We look forward to continuing our partnership over the next three years,” said Stephen Ashworth, Managing Director of Thailand and South East Asia, Hutchison Ports.
The partnership has been initiated as part of HPT’s Sustainable Future Program, which aims to support the sustainable development of HPT’s people and community, the environment, and its business operations. The collaboration with IMS, KU supports the people and community pillar and focuses on academic cooperation and creating opportunities for IMS, KU students to enhance their knowledge of the maritime industry and integrate sustainable practices into their learning.
