Freshport Asia, Thailand’s cool care specialists, have completed delivery of 400 custom security covers to a large Thai retailer.

These new security covers were designed by working alongside the customer’s operations team who had direct input into much of the design. The security covers were designed specifically to curb losses each month due theft during transit. Securing the cage with this newly developed system and tracking the handling process in combination with the new security covers will help to deter any would be thief.

After vigorous testing, Freshport Asia discovered the cover material was picking up damage when the cages clashed together during handling, so they devised a detachable bumper solution to keep them separated and extend the cover life. These types of simple, yet practical innovations are what Freshport Asia strives to bring their customers.

Chris Reichert, Operations and Perishable Handling at Freshport Asia, said: “We design and make all our covers based around the individual requirement of the customer. This large delivery was a real breakthrough for us though, as they will be phased into our customer’s operation with some already in action.”

He continued: “The materials we used were chosen to make the cover operationally efficient and at the same time robust and secure. We hope to expand what we’ve done for this customer and already have interest from potential clients. Many companies around the world use roll cages for their logistical needs and covers have benefits in many areas not just security, preventing cross contamination, water proofing, temperature control to name a few. For this customer the return on investment could be seen almost immediately, and we are proud to be a part of their success.”
