DSV, a global leader in transport and logistics, is proud to announce the launch of its first renewable energy assets at its warehouse facilities in Landskrona, Sweden. This milestone marks a significant step towards DSV’s ambitious goal of achieving net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
The project features over 100,000 square meters of rooftop solar panels, generating 14 MWp of renewable energy. This is enough to power the Landskrona facilities, charge electric vehicles, and feed surplus energy back into the local grid. The annual energy production is equivalent to powering approximately 1,400 homes.
“This initiative goes beyond just powering our own operations,” explains Brian Ejsing, Group COO at DSV. “It’s about creating a sustainable energy approach for both DSV and our customers, particularly in sectors like road transportation. This will aid in the electrification of road haulage services, which is essential for improving energy security and achieving our decarbonization strategy.”
The new Landskrona facilities, equipped with charging infrastructure for electric trucks and vehicles, demonstrate DSV’s commitment to reducing energy demand and reliance on fossil fuels. This initiative will lower both direct and indirect carbon emissions.
Inspiration for Future Projects
Alongside the recently opened 345,000 square meter logistics facility in Horsens, Denmark – the largest in Europe and in DSV’s network – the Landskrona project will serve as a pilot for future sustainable logistics infrastructure. These initiatives create a platform for greener warehousing and road transportation solutions.
“With the launch of our state-of-the-art renewable energy assets, we have reached a key milestone in our journey towards a decarbonized DSV,” says Anders Rousing, Vice President, Group Operational Sustainability at DSV. “This development will provide critical insights and help shape best practices for upcoming projects. I am optimistic about the positive impact we can make going forward.”
The assets will be managed by DSV Energy, a division dedicated to handling the company’s renewable energy program. “DSV Energy is pivotal in this endeavour, playing an essential role in our efforts to reduce emissions and promote our long-term sustainability objectives,” adds Rousing. “The Landskrona facilities will help transform DSV into an active energy producer rather than just a passive consumer.”
