DP World NLC Direct Shipping Service Bangladesh

DP World and NLC have announced that their new direct shipping service between Pakistan and Bangladesh has transported over 1,000 containers since its launch in October. This strategic initiative is significantly strengthening trade and regional connectivity in South Asia.

The latest shipment, aboard the MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan, departed Karachi with various goods, including industrial raw materials, agricultural products, and textile fabrics, and is scheduled to arrive at Chittagong Port in Bangladesh on January 11th.

This new direct maritime link offers substantial benefits for importers and exporters, including:

  • Reduced Transit Times: Over 50% reduction in shipping time.
  • Improved Connectivity: Eliminates transshipment, streamlining the process.
  • Enhanced Reliability: Offers a more reliable and competitive logistics solution.

The service has been well-received by the business communities in both countries, marking a new era in trade facilitated by the joint venture between DP World and NLC.

Connecting Six Countries

This service is part of a wider network connecting six countries with the following rotation:

Port Klang – Jebel Ali – Karachi – Chittagong – Belawan – Mundra

By eliminating the need for transshipment, the direct route between Karachi and Chittagong offers an efficient 11-day transit time, ensuring faster delivery and reduced logistics costs. The growing demand for this service is evident in the increasing volume of containers transported on each voyage.

“We are committed to enhancing regional connectivity and facilitating trade growth,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive of DP World. “This new service line is a testament to our dedication to providing innovative logistics solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. This new route also connects to many of our regional and global routes, giving businesses and traders connectivity to all parts of our global network, enhancing their opportunities to build their business, and service new customers.”

DP World and NLC are committed to exploring further opportunities to expand and enhance logistics services in the region, contributing to economic growth and development.
