Despite the current economic challenges, DACHSER is constantly creating new direct general cargo lines between its locations in order to densify its European transport network and optimize supply chains. This includes daily departures from all regions of Germany to the Iberian Peninsula, Spain and Portugal.

Currently, the logistics service provider has expanded its network between Germany and Spain with two new daily general cargo lines. The first line connects Cologne with San Sebastian in the north of the Iberian Peninsula, while the second offers a direct connection from DACHSER’s Rheine logistics centre to the northeast of Spain to Zaragoza in Aragón.

With the new general cargo line between Cologne and San Sebastian, the logistics provider is connecting two economically strong regions. The new daily direct connection supplements the other daily connections from the branches in Malsch, Dortmund and Mannheim to San Sebastian and Bilbao in the north of Spain. The DACHSER branch in Rheine is introducing another new groupage line to Spain, in this case, to Zaragoza.

The transport is carried out using both standard trailers and double-deck swap bodies, which increase capacity and promote sustainability. The daily general cargo transports to the Iberian Peninsula are used, for example, by customers in the automotive industry, renewable energies, the consumer goods industry and the chemical industry.

Reliable planning through close connections

DACHSER’s European network is growing rapidly. A large number of daily direct connections within Europe, as well as between Germany, Spain and Portugal, is crucial to DACHSER’s ability to reliably and safely transport the goods of its export and import customers with short transit times.

Daily connections with fixed transit times and a direct approach to destinations enable customers to plan reliably and ensure smooth processes. DACHSER transports general cargo, full or part loads and organizes the procurement and distribution of goods throughout Europe.

DACHSER Iberia has been part of the European groupage network of the logistics company based in Kempten, Allgäu, for almost 10 years. In recent months, the business unit has made several significant investments in the future. For example, a new logistics centre near Lisbon went into operation at the end of May. From 2023, there will be another new logistics centre in Alicante.

The logistics provider also fully rolled out the standardized European Logistics product family on the Iberian Peninsula this year. This combines defined logistics services with a transparent cost structure and uniform performance standards.

Iberia also has a strong presence in the concept of sustainable urban deliveries, DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery: Since the spring, all shipments in a defined delivery area in the city centres of Porto and Madrid have been delivered emission-free, each using a fully electric 7.5-ton truck of the FUSO eCanter model.
