CULINES held a ceremony at its Shanghai Headquarters to conclude a newbuilding contract with Yangzijiang Shipbuilding (YZJ). This order is for two container vessels, each with a capacity of 2,400 TEU.

This is the second newbuilding order in CULINES’s investment program, following the four 1,900 TEU feeder vessels announced earlier this year.

CULINES new vessel investment program is focused on reducing environmental impact while also increasing efficiency and economy of scale within the fleet.

SDARI designs these two vessels. The Low Load Tunning main engine uses the latest generation of EFI technology to upgrade the ship’s energy-saving and carrying efficiency to a higher level. As a result, it meets the IMO ship Energy Efficiency Design Index EEDI Phase III requirements following the general green and environmental protection trend.

In addition, the new vessels will be pre-installed with a digital smart ship management system, which can collect all data from the navigational equipment, engine room equipment, reefer container, etc. The smart system will allow for the realization of real-time monitoring and centralized management, increasing the shore side’s ability to control fleet assets and improve the overall efficiency of ships while also reducing environmental impact.

The two vessels will join CULINES’s fleet in 2023. They will enter into LR CLASS. These vessels are intended for Intra-Asia trade. They will help CULINES maintain the necessary capacity to grow with increased demand, stay competitive, and take a significant step forward in modernizing CULINES’s fleet.
