On 31st December 2021, the Nansha Port Railway, a key Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area project, was officially opened for operation.

Guangdong Development and Reform Commission, Municipal Governments of Guangzhou, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Foshan, China Railway Guangzhou Group, Guangzhou Port Group, and other authorities and enterprises attended the launching ceremony.

Accompanied by a loud and clear whistle, a train fully loaded with imported Thai rice departed for its destination Zhuzhou, Hunan. CULINES had the privilege to become one of the first international shipping companies for this project and successfully made its maiden trip, marking the official launch of our multimodal services.

This sea-rail service started from Laem Chabang, Thailand, and the cargos are transported with CULINES South China – Thailand (SCT/SCT2) service to Nansha and transhipped right within the port by train to Zhuzhou, Hunan.

The Nansha Port Railway could offer direct transshipments by train from Nansha International Logistics Park and Nansha Port, connecting the “last mile” of intermodal transport. Compared with the traditional transhipment via drayage to Huangpu for railway, the Nansha Port Railway reduced the workload. It’s estimated that the Nansha Port Railway could save 30% of the time and 10% of the cost, thus offering more efficient and convenient inland logistics services.
