On March 29, COSCO SHIPPING donated 975 protective overalls with a total value of 100,000 yuan to the Liguria region of Italy. As the second batch of medical supplies donated by the corporation since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, they were successfully delivered to San Martino Hospital in Genoa.

On April 1, COSCO SHIPPING Italy received a thank-you note signed by Mr. Giovanni Toti, President of the Liguria region, and Mr. Giacomo Raul Giampedrone, Regional Councilor for Civil Protection of Liguria. In the letter, they extended gratitude to COSCO SHIPPING for this donation when Italy is going through a difficult time, saying this further crucial gesture of support will assist the brave women and men who are in the frontlines directly responding in this terrible flight against COVID-19. They added that the contributions from China cannot but reinforce the already existing deep relations between the two countries.

During the donation process, COSCO SHIPPING leveraged its advantage as a professional logistics service provider. The specialized teams of its subsidiaries, including COSCO SHIPPING Lines, COSCO SHIPPING Logistics, and COSCO SHIPPING Europe, were responsible for the entire transportation process, warehousing, and customs clearance. Thanks to their teamwork, the “door-to-door” transportation from the factory to Shanghai, and then to Milan and the hospital was completed only in a week, providing important support and assistance to the medical staff fighting against the epidemic at the frontline.
