On March 18, the COSCO SHIPPING BRAZIL, the largest new generation of LATAMAX vessel of COSCO SHIPPING, commenced its maiden voyage at the port of Paranaguá, Brazil. This significant event coincides with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Brazil.
The COSCO SHIPPING BRAZIL is expected to contribute to over 50% growth and enhancement in capacity for the Brazil/Far East route, facilitating import and export convenience for both Brazil and South American east coast countries. The inauguration ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Mr Zhu Bixin, Director and President of COSCO SHIPPING; Mr Yu Peng, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Sao Paulo; Mr Darci Piana, Vice Governor of Paraná State, and Mr Luiz Fernando Garcia, Director of Port of Paranaguá, along with other distinguished guests.
With a total capacity of 14,100 TEU, including 2,100 reefer plugs, the container vessel COSCO SHIPPING BRAZIL is the largest state-of-the-art LATAMAX vessel in South America. This enhanced shipping space, particularly the augmented reefer container capacity, will ensure the seamless import and export of perishable goods, further bolstering the development of the China-Brazil trade corridor.
During the ceremony, Mr. Zhu Bixin emphasized COSCO SHIPPING’s commitment to the Brazilian market, aiming to optimize its route network layout and deliver high-quality shipping logistics services to Brazilian customers. Mr. Yu Peng highlighted the significance of the COSCO SHIPPING BRAZIL for the Brazilian port, emphasizing its role in expanding trade between China and Brazil and commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Additionally, Mr. Darci Piana expressed the importance of cooperation with COSCO SHIPPING for the growth of Parana, while Mr. Luiz Fernando Garcia showcased Parana’s commitment to fostering logistics efficiency and driving economic development.
