On July 20, with a thick and high-pitched whistle, M.V. COSCO SAO PAULO, a vessel operating on the ESA2 loop under COSCO SHIPPING, loaded with nearly 1,000 sets of excavators, loaders, graders and other construction machinery products manufactured by XCMG, set sail from Lianyungang to South America and is expected to arrive at the destination port around August 18. The vessel set a new record of single-batch export of China’s construction machinery industry in the past 5 years.

COSCO SHIPPING and XCMG, as leading Chinese enterprises in the international ocean transportation and engineering machinery manufacturing industries, have been expanding their cooperation mindset and opening up new cooperation paths based on the principle of “complementary advantages and mutual benefits”. Particularly in terms of special containers, COSCO SHIPPING has customized container logistics solutions for XCMG, given the characteristics of its export products, such as diverse models, huge weights and bulk shipments. As a result, it has not only further optimized the shipping route and reduced delivery time but also lowered the overall logistics costs for XCMG. During the pandemic, the two sides, with the full support of Lianyungang Port Group and other ports and carriers, carried out close cooperation to overcome the traffic disruptions and completed many emergency shipping tasks. They played an important role in fighting against the pandemic in China, promoting the resumption of work across the industry, and supporting the fight against the virus globally.

The 2,000 TEUof construction machinery loaded on M.V. COSCO SAO PAULO are produced for a large bid project in South America that XCMG won in 2021. It is key for XCMG to embark on international expansion and promote localization strategy in major regions overseas.

As the carrier service provider of the project, COSCO SHIPPING now owns 526 containerships with a total capacity of 3.03 million TEU. In addition, COSCO SHIPPING has invested 25 vessels with a total capacity of 210,000 TEU on 9 groups of service routes in the Latin American market to which the project is oriented. COSCO SHIPPING has provided solid support for the project as a market leader in terms of its schedule performance, coverage, and delivery time.

Facing the current scarcity of container sources in the shipping market, COSCO SHIPPING has always emphasized maintaining the safety and stability of the industrial chain and supply chain, upholding the concept of “customer first” and adhering to the essence of shipping service. By stepping up vessel leasing and launching special services, the corporation aims to increase its shipping capacity, ensure the supply of container sources and improve its service. As a result, it provides transport support for national brands like XCMG and leading enterprises in the industry. Furthermore, it takes the lead to provide small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises with thoughtful, efficient and accurate high-quality service and address the shipping challenges for them.

Given the supply-demand imbalance in the international shipping market, COSCO SHIPPING will further deepen the cooperation with XCMG, Lianyungang Port Group and other customers and ports and carriers. And it will fully leverage the advantages of industrial chain operation to alleviate the supply-demand imbalance of container transport and make new contributions to the work to ensure “six priorities” (stability in employment, financial operations, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment, and expectations) and stability in six areas (security in job, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments), and the creation of a “dual circulation” development pattern.
