The CMA CGM Foundation has partnered with the French General Directorate for Civil Protection and Crisis Management (DGSCGC) to provide logistical support for humanitarian crises in mainland France, overseas territories, and internationally.

As part of this partnership, the CMA CGM Foundation will ship 50 containers of humanitarian aid to Mayotte, leveraging the CMA CGM Group’s maritime transport expertise. This shipment will provide vital support to populations impacted by Cyclone Chido and the Dikeledi storm.

“We are proud to partner with the DGSCGC to support their critical mission of responding to humanitarian crises,” said Tanya Saadé Zeenny, President of the CMA CGM Foundation. “By leveraging our logistical expertise and resources, we can help ensure that essential aid reaches those who need it most.”

Supporting Emergency Relief Efforts in Mayotte

The 50 containers of essential supplies will depart from the Port of Marseille-Fos and will provide vital aid to the people of Mayotte. This initiative builds on CMA CGM’s ongoing emergency response to the crisis, which has already seen the transport of over 965 containers of aid to the island.

The CMA CGM Foundation also supports other humanitarian organizations active in Mayotte, including the French Red Cross, solidarity food stores, and the French Food Banks.

Collaboration for Enhanced Humanitarian Response

The framework agreement between the CMA CGM Foundation and the DGSCGC outlines a collaborative approach to responding to natural disasters and humanitarian crises. The Foundation will leverage the CMA CGM Group’s expertise and logistical resources, including maritime, air, and land transport, to support DGSCGC operations in France and abroad.

“This partnership reflects our commitment to social responsibility and our dedication to supporting communities in times of need,” said Julien Marion, Managing Director of the DGSCGC. “By collaborating with the CMA CGM Foundation, we can enhance our ability to respond effectively to crises and provide vital assistance to those affected.”

The CMA CGM Foundation’s “Containers of Hope” program has a strong track record in humanitarian logistics, having facilitated the transport of 63,000 tons of essential supplies to 97 countries since its launch in 2012. This partnership with the DGSCGC further strengthens the Foundation’s commitment to providing critical support during humanitarian crises.
