CMA CGM Enhances Shipping Services in the Indian Ocean Region

CMA CGM, a leading shipping company, has announced significant improvements to its India, Middle East, Gulf to and from South Africa, East Africa, and Indian Ocean services in a continuous effort to provide reliable and top-quality services.

Under the revamping, the MIDAS 1 service will now include Coega in its rotation, providing optimized pathways for shipments with competitive transit times to Jebel Ali and India. This tailored service is designed to improve efficiency and meet the demands of the citrus season export.

The MIDAS 2 service will now make Durban the unique port of call in South Africa, while Pointe des Galets will be transferred to the new KARIBU service. Port Elizabeth will be offered weekly via Durban through dedicated feeder solutions with faster transit times.

The HAX service will be replaced by KARIBU, a weekly service fully operated by CMA CGM. This new service promises competitive transit times and easy connections to the Indian Ocean using the Pointe des Galets hub.

Furthermore, the NOURA service will provide faster transit times to its dedicated markets in Mozambique, Somalia, and Seychelles.

The updated rotations are as follows:

MIDAS 1: The service will be operated in 70 days with ten vessels up to 5,700 TEU Nominal, starting with m/v CMA CGM KRIBI, ETA Coega on May 5th, 2024. The new rotation will be Jebel Ali – Mundra – Nhava Sheva – Pointe Noire – Tema – Apapa – Capetown – Coega – Jebel Ali.

MIDAS 2: This service will continue to be operated in 49 days with seven vessels up to 2,800 TEU Nominal, starting with m/v CMA CGM VALPARAISO, ETA Jebel Ali on April 22nd, 2024, and ETA Durban on May 14th, 2024. The rotation will be Jebel Ali – Mundra – Nhava Sheva – Durban – Jebel Ali.

KARIBU: This service will be operated in 42 days with six vessels up to 1,700 TEU Nominal, starting with m/v CMA CGM KAILAS, ETA Jebel Ali on May 12th, 2024. The rotation will be Jebel Ali – Mombasa – Longoni – Pointe des Galets – Mombasa – Mogadishu – Jebel Ali.

NOURA: This service will be operated in 35 days with five vessels up to 1,700 TEU Nominal, starting with m/v CMA CGM GULF EXPRESS, ETA Jebel Ali on May 14th, 2024. The rotation will be Jebel Ali – Mogadishu – Mombasa – Beira – Nacala – Port Victoria – Jebel Ali.

These enhancements underline CMA CGM’s commitment to providing efficient and improved shipping services within the Indian Ocean region.
