CEVA Logistics won the ‘Most Scalable Project’ award from the Car Sharing Impact, Spain event at the end of 2023. CEVA was rewarded for the launch and initiative’s effectiveness and planning across its 11 sites in Spain. María José Montes Guadalix, from CEVA’s Compensation and Benefits team, collected the award from the organizers.
The project was established in 2023 by the Human Resources team and rolled out across all of CEVA’s warehouse sites in Spain. Using the Hoop Carpool app, CEVA colleagues were encouraged to share journeys to and from work, with rewards provided through the internal payroll and benefits system based on how many shared trips were taken and how much CO2 they had saved.
Carpooling reduces the demand for fuel, saving the CEVA team just under €16,500 in 2023. It has a wider impact, though, with lower energy use and reduced CO2 emissions. CEVA Logistics is committed to reducing its carbon emissions over the coming years, aiming to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 as part of the CMA CGM Group. By focusing on the grey fleet and encouraging shared journeys, the CEVA team saved more than 20,500 kg of CO2, representing 4,116 trips in the first year of this initiative.
Encouraging carpooling among colleagues also reduces traffic congestion, helping keep our towns and cities emptier and cleaner with improved air quality and reducing the demand for parking infrastructure. CEVA organized a league table of carpooling sites to encourage participation. The positive reception of the project has made it possible for our carbon footprint to become smaller every day and, in addition, has allowed our employees to save a total of €16,403 in transportation throughout this period.
