Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. has announced the successful delivery of a third Ship-to-Shore (STS) crane to PSA Penn Terminals in Philadelphia, PA. This addition further solidifies Liebherr’s long-standing commitment to providing advanced container handling technology throughout the North American market.
With over 130 Liebherr maritime cranes active in the region, the company continues to be a trusted partner for U.S. ports. The recent delivery is part of Liebherr’s mission to support its American customers with high-quality machinery, ensuring seamless and effective port operations. Manufactured in Ireland, these cranes come with customizable designs and various outreach options to meet the specific requirements of each terminal.

Our cranes, designed and manufactured in Ireland with support from our dedicated U.S. team, provide secure and efficient solutions for ports nationwide, especially under the pressures of constant performance demands.”
PSA Penn Terminals has been utilizing Liebherr technology for several years, having commissioned two STS cranes in 2018. John Brennan, President and CEO of PSA Penn Terminals, remarked, “This new crane emphasizes our commitment to being one of the best-equipped private container terminals on the East Coast of the U.S. Our well-trained workforce, combined with top-notch facilities, empowers us to deliver efficient and reliable services to our customers.”

With a lift height of 115 ft (35 m) over the rail and a safe working load of 66 tonnes, this crane is engineered to enhance operational efficiency and increase capacity at the terminal.
This delivery reinforces the ongoing collaboration between Liebherr and PSA Penn Terminals, aiming to boost the terminal’s capabilities in high-volume container handling. Declan O’Sullivan, General Manager of Sales at Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd., reflected on the company’s legacy in the U.S.: “Since our first delivery of a container crane in 1978, we have remained focused on supplying high-performing solutions aligned with our customers’ needs.”
