The world’s second-largest shipping line in terms of container vessel capacity, Swiss-based MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company recently announced they have added a new direct call from the Port of Moin with the aim of improving trade links between Costa Rica and Northern Europe.
MSC Katya R Vessel arrived at the Moin Terminal in Costa Rica on June 16th 2019, this is the largest vessel to ever call at the terminal and begins a new era in cargo shipping for the port and for exporters using its facilities. The new MSC service will allow larger container ships with increased capacity to transport refrigerated produce on transatlantic routes to both European and Asian markets.
The MSC Katya R will operate a direct weekly service from Moin to key ports in norther Europe on the company’s Ecuador Service. The direct ports of call from Moin are: Antwerp, Rotterdam and Bremerhaven with connections to further destinations across Europe.
Costa Rican companies that which export food and other commodities in containers will benefit greatly from the new service, Costa Rica is the world ‘s largest exporter of pineapples and the third largest exporter of bananas.
