Morocco is quickly becoming one of the most important transshipment locations in the world as a result of the recent addition of the of 5 million TEU capacity APM Terminals MedPort Tangier.
The TangerMed Port is already one of the leading ports in Africa, and also ranks amongst the top 50 in the world helped by its prime location along key trade lanes and the continued growth of cargo movements to and from Africa.
The new state-of-the-art facility took two years to build with a total invent investment of USD 800m to bring the vision to reality. The facility was designed and built by APM Terminals, who will also operate the new transshipment terminal. Devised and built using leading-edge technology, the terminal promises to be one of the safest and most efficient in the world.
APM Terminals CEO, Morten H. TangerMed Port annual throughput capacity will significantly increase with the new terminal, with an expected annual capacity of nine million TEU’s. This increase will greatly benefit Moroccan connectivity and further support their global trade.
