CEVA Logistics and CMA CGM have provided a fully integrated logistics and transportation solution for the shipment of building materials from Asia to Europe, supporting students from KMUTT University in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2019. The KMUTT (King Mongkut University of Technology Thailand) students are representing Asia in this year’s decathlon where students from around the world compete to design and construct innovative buildings powered by solar energy.
The Solar Decathlon will take place at Szentendre, Hungary, from July to September 2019 with teams participating from 17 countries. The KMUTT team will be the only group from Asia.
CEVA Logistics and CMA CGM have provided the KMUTT team with door-to-door transportation for the shipment of all of the construction parts and furniture necessary to assemble and equip their full-scale energy-saving house. The scope of services included ocean shipments from Thailand to Hungary and then by rail from Rijeka port in Hungary to a CEVA warehouse in Budapest. All the materials were then final mile trucked from the warehouse to the exhibition grounds of the Solar Decathlon.
“I am delighted to see that the close collaboration between CEVA and CMA CGM has delivered a comprehensive logistics and transportation solution that ensured seamless and in-time shipment of our client’s valuable cargo. This exciting project provides a concrete illustration of the tangible benefits we can offer our customers thanks to the strategic partnership with the CMA CGM Group,” said Elaine Low, Executive Vice President, CEVA’s Southeast Asia Cluster.
“The CMA CGM group has always had the protection of the environment as a guiding principle and this is why we are proud to support this project. We are excited to see that the strategic partnership between CMA CGM and CEVA Logistics now allows us to offer our clients tailored and comprehensive door-to-door packages. We extend our full support to these talented students and we wish them best of luck in the upcoming competition,” said Fabienne Lerda, Managing Director, CMA CGM Thailand.
