The world’s 14th largest container line in terms of vessel capacity, South Korea-based Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) recently announced they have appointed Mr. Jae-hoon Bae as their next President & CEO. The appointment was approved by the HMM Board of Directors at the recent 3rd regular shareholders meeting held at HMM headquarters in Seoul.
Following a comprehensive candidate examination, the CEO recommendation committee led by the Korea Development Bank chose Mr. Bae as the final candidate for the next HMM CEO. Mr. Bae had previously met with senior executives from HMM and discussed in detail current and future business conditions for the company.
An official for HMM commented, “Mr. Bae, an expert in logistics who successfully served as CEO of Pantos Logistics for six years, is favored because of his broad understanding and capabilities in terms of sales negotiation, global management, and organizational management.” And that “Mr. Bae is expected to focus on a customer’s view on handling HMM’s current issues in order to lead managerial innovation, strengthen its sales competitiveness. And all of HMM employees will do their best to lay a foundation to take a leap forward to become a global top rated carrier.”
Previous to his appointment, Mr. Bae has worked for LG Semicon as a marketing director followed by a promotion to president of LG Semicon America Inc. in 1997. His most recent roles were Vice President of LG Electronics MC (Mobile Communications) Overseas Marketing and CEO of Pantos Logistics.
