Germany-based Rhenus Logistics Asia-Pacific Division is taking giant steps to significantly accelerate their Intra-Asia growth and foothold aligning focus on customer needs and trends. This strategy is on the back of the opening of their New Zealand office in August 2018 that will increase their reach the lucrative Oceania market.

Rhenus Asia-Pacific will also explore new emerging opportunities including e-commerce and digital technologies, while a concentrated effort continues to identify potential mergers and acquisition opportunities.

Rhenus Asia-Pacific Far East Asia CEO, Jan Harnisch explains, “With a presence in almost every part of the Asia Pacific, Rhenus has an extensive portfolio of services, products and solutions. Our intra-Asia trade volume has seen a steady year-on-year growth of 20-30% for the past 3 years and we aim to double up the revenue by 2020. We continue to deliver strong Air and Ocean products, while warehousing, cross-border trucking and rail transportation remain increasingly important in the region. We are also looking to grow the E-commerce business for South-east Asia and Greater China, among others.”

Rhenus now has offices in 15 countries and regions staffed by local market experts to facilitate the expansion and open up the trade lanes within Asia to Oceania and Europe.

Rhenus Board Member, Tobias Bartz had this to say, “Rhenus is on track on a long-term growth strategy to establish a strong presence on all continents. The extension of our presence in the South East Asian markets is key, where we leverage the possibilities in cross border trucking. We are seeing strong growth in air freight, especially the trade lanes between Hong Kong – Bangkok, Taipei – Bangkok, Hong Kong – Delhi, Singapore – Bangkok, Shanghai – Bangkok.”
