MSC and TRAXENS Speeds Up Smart Container Deployment

One of the world’s leading container shipping and logistics company, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has sped up their deployment of smart containers for their customers across the globe using IoT solutions developed by their partner TRAXENS.

Over the next few months, the shipping behemoth has committed to equipping 50,000 dry cargo containers to feed the increasing demand from shoppers who opt for TRAXENS solutions.

The TRAXENS solution provides shippers with an Internet-connected device to permanently fix on dry cargo containers. This enhances the container allowing it to become a smart, connected object which collates and sends real-time data on its position and movements throughout its journey.

Various other factors have to be accounted for when ensuring cargo remains secure, such as doors opening and closing, temperature, humidity level and shocks and vibrations. One of the main issues in today’s global supply chains is the lack of real-time, end-to-end visibility resulting in importers or exporters having no visibility and transparency over the whole journey. However, the TRAXENS solution will now put an end to this issue.
