The Port of New Orleans (Port NOLA) recently reported they had received their largest container ship in their history when the Pusan C, a 9,500 TEU vessel operated by CMA CGM called on the 8th October 2018 at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal operated by Ports America.
President and CEO for the Port of New Orleans, Brandy D. Christian said, “The deployment of larger vessels highlights our strong growth in container volumes and the success of the PEX 3 service connecting America’s heartland to global markets like Asia, Gulf Coast container volumes are predicted to continue to rise, and we look forward to capturing the growth opportunities with our ocean carrier partners like CMA CGM.”
The world’s third-largest container carrier and who recently celebrated their 40th anniversary CMA CGM operate the Pusan C as part of their PEX 3 Service, a direct weekly container service to Asia from Port NOLA.
The arrival of the Pusan C set a record as the largest container vessel by 1,000 TEUs to call at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal. Port NOLA continues to experience growth in total containerized cargo volumes, they have recorded a 20 per cent increase in containerized cargo volumes in the first three months of fiscal year.
