One of the world’s leading provider of contract logistics solutions, DHL Supply Chain are continuing to bolster their impressive double-digit growth in 2017 with further expansions for their Thailand division.
In 2017 DHL announced they would invest 2.7 Billion Thai Baht by the year 2020 into their end-to-end operations in the Thailand Cluster markets (Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar) with the goal to keep increasing their regional footprint.
DHL collaborates with their customers to enhance and improve efficiency within the supply chain and further develop strategies and investments pertaining to digitalization technologies in the supply chain. DHL currently provides their customers with a cloud-based supply chain risk management platform, Resilience360, which enables them to assess critical hot spots along their supply chains.
DHL has continually evolved their operations with developing innovation-driven solutions such as:
- Ring Scanner
- Vision Picking
- Collaborative Robots
- DHL Transport Management Center
- DHL Connected View
- EPOD (Electric Proof of Delivery)
Several new business models and services have now emerged to correspond to new trends and demands in the supply chain.
DHL carried out extensive research and released a report on digitalization in the supply chain, the result showed that most companies are only in the “development” stage of implementing supply chain digitalization technologies with 60% of these companies opting to leverage their third-party logistics service provider’s (3PL) investment in physical technologies opposed to investing in-house.
DHL Supply Chain Thailand Cluster CEO, Kevin Burrell said, “DHL is staying ahead in expertise and innovation, and positioning ourselves to be ready to serve customers by continually investing in technology and solutions for the always-on era. By applying innovation at every step in the end-to-end chain, including our processes, staff, warehouse and vehicle-based devices and IT systems, we can ensure we protect our reputation as the experienced leader in logistics solutions. DHL Supply Chain will continue to consolidate and support markets in which we lead, namely Thailand and Vietnam, and is committed to investing to provide industry-leading solutions in countries such as Myanmar and Cambodia.”
