Dubai-based DP World recently received six forklift trucks from Konecranes to the DP World Jebel Ali Terminal 1 in Dubai, UAE. The forklifts were originally ordered in November 2017.

Delivered in June 2018 the forklift trucks are the Konecranes SMV16-1200C model. The SMV16-1200C range has a lifting capacity of 16 metric tons at 1200 mm and a wheelbase of 3750 mm.

All six machines are equipped with overload protection system, Groeneveld Greensight reverse system and disabled forklift operation when the seatbelt is disengaged thus meeting DP Worlds stringent safety requirements.

The Greensight reverse system is an obstacle detection system that combines a reversing camera with ultrasound sensors for enhanced safety.

Konecranes have been a long-time favorite with DP World as they boast an impressive fleet of forklift trucks, empty container handlers, reach stackers and RTGs. DP World is active across six continents with a total of 65 marine terminals in operation, their flagship, the Jebel Ali Port was recently voted as the best seaport in the Middle East.

Konecranes Lift Trucks Regional Sales Manager, Manos Athanasakis said,  “DP World is a valued customer with high demands regarding performance and safety. We always do our best to make sure they have the right machines fit for their specific needs.”

Manager for the Plant Workshop T1 DP World UAE Region, Yahya Al Suwaidi commented,  “Since we have very demanding operations we need machines with high productivity and minimum downtime. Due to the quality and reliability of the machines together with the excellent after sales support, we choose Konecranes.”
