German-based DB Schenker, a division of the German rail operator Deutsche Bahn AG recently announced they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Eastern China city of Pinghu for the construction of a state-of-the-art logistics hub in Pinghu located in the Zhejiang province.
The city of Pinghu is strategically located near the metropolitan areas of Shanghai, Hangzhou and Suzhou, along with the city being in close proximity of the Port of Zhapu and the Yangshan deep-water port. The city also boasts a fine history dating back more than 6,000 years as one of the notable birthplaces of the Chinese culture.
DB Schenker has over 50 years’ experience of working in China and is one of the leading 3PL companies in the region offering extensive freight forwarding services by Air, Ocean, Road and Rail. The company also provides services in the contract logistics sector, a market which has huge potential for growth in China.
The new logistics hub will offer state-of-the-art operations and management systems for both existing and new customers of DB Schenker from a whole host of industries, including e-Commerce, industrial, electronics and healthcare.
