Austria-based transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss recently announced the expansion of their warehousing services in China, this is part of their ongoing strategy to become a global leader as a full-service logistics provider. Gebrüder Weiss is the world’s oldest transport and logistics company, originally opening in 1473.
General Manager for Gebrüder Weiss in China, Yongquan Chen explained, “Gebrüder Weiss manages a global warehouse space of 626.109 square meters. In the main transport hubs of Greater China, we currently operate 13 warehouses with a space of 50,000 square meters. In the coming five years, we want to add new locations and expand the storage area significantly.”
The Gebrüder Weiss multi-usage warehouses in Chongqing and Chengdu, are equipped with the sophisticated orange warehouse management system (oWMS)
One of China’s most renowned luxury furniture importer uses Gebrüder Weiss to handle all their goods, Mr Chen had this to say about the contract, “We do not only pick up the goods in the European factories and handle the international transport and import. We also organize the storage in the recently established warehouses in Chongqing and Chengdu with high-tech management systems, deliver the furniture to the end user and even provide assembly services.”
Mr. Chen added, “The software is user-friendly, can be accessed from everywhere and provides the customer with all the necessary information – transparent, fast and efficient,”

Both Chongqing and Chengdu are key business centers in Western China and the logical decision was made to decision to open warehouses in these cities. Mr. Chen ended with, “Many export and import-oriented businesses make use of the infrastructure of these logistical hubs. Now, these companies can benefit from oWMS and the logistics solutions of Gebrüder Weiss”
