France-based container transportation and shipping company CMA CGM Group recently announced the commercialization of connected containers with TRAXENS by CMA CGM.
CMA CGM was the first company to invest and aid in the development of TRAXENS and has continued to lead numerous tests of this French start-up’s unique solution. The group has now agreed that the time is right to deploy TRAXENS on a larger scale by offering it to all their customers.
The TRAXENS connected boxed is affixed to a shipping container allowing for optimized management at each step of the containers journey. This achieved by TRAXENS measuring doors opening and closing, containers’ position, anywhere whether it is on land or at sea, outside temperature variations and humidity and temperature inside the container and the intensity of potential shocks.
Customers of the group can track their merchandise more efficiently due to the near-real-time alert system, this allows them to be more reactive at each step of the transport. The system uses an online intuitive and user-friendly interface updated in real time for management of the supply chain.
The TRAXENS system is also available with a complete diagnostic offer that enables optimization of the supply chain. A dedicated project team will support their customers by analyzing their data, this means that businesses that choose TRAXENS will benefit by being able to identify logistical problems and implement permanent solutions to increase cost efficiency and security.
Senior Vice-President Commercial and Agency Network for the CMA CGM Group, Mathieu Friedberg said, “CMA CGM reaffirms its Customer Centricity Strategy by offering this innovative solution. With nearly 19 million containers carried in 2017, the generalization of smart containers in the Group’s fleet will allow to collect and analyze a lot of information necessary to improve the service offered to customers and will help them optimize their supply chain.”
