Swiss-based international transportation and logistics provider the Militzer & Münch Group recently celebrated the launch of their new business unit in Sri Lanka.

The new division of Militzer & Münch is located near the Port of Colombo and will be used for consolidating shipments and handling sea freight transportation to the surrounding regions and throughout Asia.

From their Sri Lankan base Militzer & Münch will also serve the CIS markets.

The company was previously represented by a delegation office in the country since 2015, however, with Sri Lanka becoming a more important logistics hub in the region over the past few years, Militzer & Münch decide the time was right to invest in their own business unit in further in the South Asian country.

The auspicious opening ceremony was attended by many dignitaries including Eran Wickramaratne, State Minister of Finance and Mass Media for Sri Lanka.

Managing Director M&M Militzer & Münch, Dilum Stembo said, “At our location near the port, we will be handling a big part of our sea freight consolidation for ocean transports via the Indian Ocean and to Asia.”

He further added, “Our five-person team offers standard transports as well as comprehensive complete solutions for complex projects.”

Militzer & Münch installation in Sri Lanka can also serve a niche market due to their operations to the CIS countries.

The company has planned to expand their service portfolio with the addition of door-to-door shipments to Europe and the USA.
