One of the biggest issues in the transportation business regarding trucks within Thailand is the dreaded “empty backhauls” which has a drastic effect on cost efficiency and profitability. Many companies understand the problem and have tried to address it, however, due to fragmentation in the transportation industry where a plethora of service provides co-exist the problem is difficult to resolve.
A new start-up company EZYHAUL aims to resolve the empty backhaul problem and transform the industry as a whole.
CEO and Co-Founder of the EZYHAUL Platform, Raymond Gillon announced that the concept for EZYHAUL is simple, the platforms main goal is to connect “Shippers” who are looking for trucks for their shipment with “Carriers” who have underutilized capacity on their vehicles, with a focus on those empty backhauls after initial delivery.
Shippers and carriers can both register for free with EZYHAUL in order to benefit from the platform. EZYHAUL focuses on offering an optimal solution using experienced logistics professionals who monitor all shipments to ensure seamless transportation. Land transportation in Southeast Asia is a big business worth an estimated USD 2.4 billion a year and is growing as each year passes, making the region a very attractive market.
“EZYHAUL was founded by logistics veterans with over 20 years of experience in Southeast Asia, who have learned and encountered several issues, especially the difficulties in finding trucks for shipment. Sometimes it wastes a lot of time to contact several service providers just to request for quotation and make a booking. However, using the platform of EZYHAUL will make “Transportation Ezy”. When registering with EZYHAUL, shippers can log in and use the platform to immediately get a price quote by simply specifying pickup and delivery locations as well as vehicle type they need. At the same time, carriers will receive an offer from shippers through mobile phone application and decide to accept the market offer real-time. EZYHAUL is responsible for connecting those parties and also ensure transportation is made Fast, Reliable and Ezy,” Mr. Gillon said.
EZYHAUL hope to echo their success in the Malaysian and Singapore markets, to deliver an easy-to-use customer experience in Thailand. The platform is available in Thai and English and can be customized to in response to specific demands of Thailand’s transportation markets, including container haulage. The company will use Thailand as a springboard into other surrounding South-East Asian countries.
EZYHAUL was devised and founded by three friends, Raymond Gillon from the Netherlands, Mudasar Mohamed from India and Nicky Lum from Malaysia. The platform has been in operation in Singapore and Malaysia since 2016 and has become well established with thousands of trucks now using the platform.
