Siemens to Acquire Software Framework Provider J2 Innovations

German conglomerate Siemens AG recently announced they are to acquire a leading software framework provider, J2 Innovations.

Based in Los Angeles, California J2 are experts in the field of building automation and have been a major player in the Internet-of-Things (IoT) software business for over 10 years. The company has built a strong reputation at home in the US and throughout the globe with their FIN (Fluid INtegration) Framework technology.

The transaction to expected to be finalized at the end of May 2018, however, both companies have agreed not to disclose any financial details to the public.

CEO of Siemens Building Technologies Control Products and Systems, Uwe Frank said, “J2 Innovations stands for speed, agility and a state-of-the-art software framework that made the company successful, this move complements our growing digital portfolio and will help us to become the leading driver of digital transformation by offering even better IoT solutions to our customers.”

With this new acquisition, both parties will further expand J2’s OEM business on a worldwide scale, increasing their workforce in the US and opening new offices and facilities in Asia and Europe.

To maintain the company’s flexibility and agility J2 will remain managed under an independent legal entity and wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Industry, Inc.

President and CEO of J2 Innovations, Jason Briggs said, “Together with a strong partner like Siemens, and we are well equipped and excited to take J2 and the FIN Framework to the next level.”

FIN developed by J2 is a state-of-the-art software framework used to monitor, operate and control equipment and automation systems for buildings. The software runs on a whole host of devices seamlessly and is deployable in the cloud along with embedded systems.

The platform is active in over 20 countries with 1000s of worldwide installations such as data centers, education campuses, high rise buildings, offices and hospitals.
