Global shipping group CMA CGM welcomed His Excellency Joko Widodo, The President of Indonesia during his visit to the Port of Jakarta (JICT) on Tuesday 15th May 2018.
Also in attendance with the President were Mr. Airlangga Hartarto – Minister of Industry, Mr. Enggartiasto Lukita – Minister of Trade, Mr. Budi Karya – Minister of Transportation, and Mrs. Rini Soemarno – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises.
The President took the time to meet the local CMA CGM employees along with the crew of the vessel CMA CGM TAGE which operates on the JAX Route between Southeast Asia and the West Coast of the United States.
President Widodo spoke on the importance of the transpacific trade and the vital role CMA CGM plays in the continued growth of the country.
CMA CGM has built a strong presence in Indonesia since opening their first office in 1995 and has biggest market coverage in the country. The group has continued to contribute towards the economic development of the country.
The group employs over 230 full time shipping professionals in Indonesia along with seven full CMA CGM agencies and six services calling Indonesian ports connecting the country to the United States, Europe and other Asian countries.
The JAX service is the only service by a shipping company offering direct call service between Indonesia and the West Coast of the United States.
The group continues to be an attractive option to potential customers due to their ability to load various commodities including footwear, garment, tyres, electronic goods, frozen seafood, etc. and exceeds current customer expectations by reducing the transit times and logistics costs.
