NYK Building Finished-Car Logistics Terminal in Turkey

NYK has recently announced a new agreement to build and manage a finished-car logistics terminal in Yarimca Port near the Turkish Capital, Istanbul. NYK will work in conjunction on the project with OYAK Denizcilik ve Liman İşletmeleri A.Ş. (OYAK PORT) who are a subsidiary of OYAK.

The agreement was signed by General Manager of OYAK, Süleyman Savaş Erdem and NYK representative director and senior managing corporate officer, Koichi Chikaraishi.

NYK will be involved with the construction of the port and when complete the terminal will be the first sizable terminal dedicated to finished cars in the Istanbul area.

After the projects are complete operations are projected to start mid-2019, the facility will offer high-quality services including PDI*

With NYK’s knowledge and experience in the in automobile transportation and terminal management and the Port of OYAK’s business base, this new joint venture will be positioned perfectly to service the increased demand for finished-car imports and exports.

The “Staying Ahead 2022 with Digitalization and Green” management plan will allow the company to secure stable freight rates by strengthening the company’s auto-logistics businesses.

Location: Yarımca, Kocaeli

Service: Finished-car logistics

Pier Length: 539 meters

Sea Depth: 12–14 meters

Total Yard Area: approx. 180,000 m2

Parking Spaces: approx. 8,000 units
