Yang Ming Forms Regional Hub in the Mediterranean

Chinese Ocean Carrier Company, Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has formed a new regional hub in the Mediterranean called YANG MING (MEDITERRANEAN) MARINE SERVICES SINGLE-MEMBER LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY.

The new company officially launched on April 2nd and was created to offer services in Piraeus, Greece. For the company’s first term Mr. Ted Wu will take the reigns as Managing Director.

Yang Ming formed the new hub due to the continued growth in the Mediterranean region and hopes to take advantage of the increase in trade. The new hub will bolster their presence improve connections to the Mediterranean, Black Sea and North African regions.

With the establishment of this new company along with the Alliance’s Mediterranean service network containing Asia-Mediterranean services as well as North Europe-East Mediterranean shuttle express, Yang Ming will have a greater reach and foothold in the area enabling further expansion in the market. A new more comprehensive and intensive logistics network will be created optimizing operating costs for global clients.

The newly formed business unit will operate in line with Yang Ming’s long-term strategies to enhance their port and logistics networks and continually improve import/export/transship cargo operations throughout the world.
