On the completion of the audit, SGS recommended Panalpina for the new ISO 9001:2015 Quality standard certification along with a recommendation for re certification to ISO 14001:2015 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety.
Managing Director SGS Switzerland, Elvira Bieri said about the new certification, “Panalpina implemented the new version of the ISO 9001 standard in 2017, and was the first freight forwarding and logistics company to be globally certified by SGS to this new standard,” She further added, “The audits spanned the whole value chain, from development and production to sales.”
Panalpina is already certified for the previous ISO 9001 standard, however, for this new iteration to be awarded all processes and procedures documentation were rechecked along with staff training for the new expectations and the dissemination of information throughout the company. All of these elements were reviewed accordingly before the new certification was awarded.
Panalpina also received recertification for ISO 14001: Environment and OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety, both globally recognized standards. The company now becomes the only multinational provider of supply chain solutions to achieve global certification to ISO 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001, and ISO 14001.
Global Head of QHSE for Panalpina, Lindsay Zingg said, “The global certification to all the latest standards of quality, health, safety and environment is once again a clear commitment to all of our stakeholders – be it our customers, staff, subcontractors, partners, suppliers or official bodies.”
Ms. Bieri ended with, “As part of the annual external audit process, Panalpina’s management and staff demonstrated a high-level of commitment to the quality management process and there was a high alignment between corporate policies and local operations,” noting that, “In terms of performance, Panalpina is in the top five percent of companies that we audit globally for QHSE.”
