Cloud-based rate management platform, CargoSphere recently announced they now have a direct data stream of tariffs and ocean rates for global trade lanes from the world’s 5th largest container shipping line, Hapag-Lloyd.
Hapag-Lloyd is the first ocean carrier to provide their customers full and automatic access to their current rates for contracts through the use of the Electronic Smart Upload and Diagnostics Solution (eSUDS) provided by the CargoSphere platform.
This new platform integration is a vast improvement over previous industry practices that used emails with file attachments which was labor-intensive and time-consuming.
Hapag-Lloyd Senior Director Sales & Service Processes, Henning Schleyerbach said, “Eliminating the email distribution of spreadsheets and PDFs is an exciting moment for Hapag-Lloyd. We are committed to improving efficiency for our customers and ourselves, and this joint Hapag-Lloyd/CargoSphere integration achievement is an important contribution to the industry as it improves timeliness and accuracy. We plan to continue differentiating ourselves from our competitors with ongoing innovation.”
CargoSphere Managing Director, Neil Barni said, “The CargoSphere team is thrilled to deliver a real-world, ocean carrier integrated, digital, rate-processing solution to the vast global container shipping industry. It is fast, fully automated and ready to transform the inefficiencies that impede ocean carriers. By accelerating the conversion of ocean freight rates to a fully standardized digital environment we are bringing to market a genuine and meaningful innovation that will move the industry forward.”
The platform can provide 100% digital infrastructure with the Electronic Smart Upload and Diagnostics Solution using data transfer automation of public tariff and contract rates between the ocean carrier company and their customers and CargoSphere. This new form of management for Digital Contracts improves accuracy significantly and reduces process times to just a few hours instead of a few days.
