Switzerland based Kuehne + Nagel have announced the launch of their first digital platform for their sea freight services called Sea Explorer.
With this new platform, Kuehne + Nagel now have the ability to offer their customers a comprehensive overview of their sea freight services across the world. Based on reliability, sustainability and transit time Sea Explorer provides a digital insight into the biggest service network for sea freight.
The system has access to over 3,000 vessels along with over 750 weekly services, the network that Kuehne + Nagel provides results in maximum flexibility for container trading across the world. The unique offering that Sea Explorer can provide is due to the partnerships with major carriers and the high level of integration.
One of the biggest challenges customers face is the volatile reliability of shipping lead times with an average of 75% arriving on time. Sea Explorer now allows customers a greater insight into service specific areas helping them to manage their inventory levels more efficiently.
One crucial insight the system can provide is a carbon emission rating which encourages customers to reduce their carbon footprint across the supply chain.
Kuehne + Nagel is a company fully committed to the protection and preservation of oceans, biodiversity and the environment on a whole.
Member of the Managing Board of Kuehne + Nagel International AG, Otto Schacht said, “High levels of data transparency are of utmost importance in logistics. Through Sea Explorer, our customers will be able to access the world largest portfolio of sea freight service offerings. Thus, they can base their respective decisions not just on transit times parameters but also on sophisticated comparative data such as service reliability and emission rating. We strive to provide the maximum visibility, flexibility and information to our customers throughout the world. Sea Explorer is another important step in our digitalization approach.”
