Autoterminal, a member of the Noatum Maritime Group, recently signed a new shareholder agreement with Abu Dhabi Ports. This new agreement will lead to the creation of the Autoterminal Khalifa Port Company a joint venture that will  operate and manage the RoRo/car terminal at the Port under a 15-year concession.

Located in the Port of Barcelona, Autoterminal is the leader in the Mediterranean region for multimodal car terminals and has over 25 years’ experience in the automotive industry. Abu Dhabi Ports is an integral part of the continued economic growth of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is recognized as a master developer of ports and industrial zones.

The car terminal will have an area of 300,000m2 along with a dedicated quay of 550m and will be located in Khalifa Port. This new strategic location will also benefit from the Khalifa Port Free Trade Zone, which is the largest Free Trade Zone in the region at 100km2 and operates in conjunction with one the world’s fastest growing ports.

The Specialized terminal will also offer their car terminal customers added-value services such as vehicle customizations, technical services and PDI Inspections. The main goal of this joint venture is to echo the high quality of service that Autoterminal provides their customers in the Port of Barcelona and to establish the Khalifa Port as the number hub in the Gulf, East Africa and the Red Sea for commercial trade routes.

Noatum Maritime Automotive is a new division of Noatum Maritime that was recently launched to oversee the group’s vehicle and RoRo cargo port operations. As of 2017, they had handled over 1.2 million vehicles.
