NYK Crisis Response Capability Boosted with Installation of J Marine NeCST

The installation of the J Marine NeCST vessel navigation support system by the NYK Group at the company’s crisis management center will vastly improve the efficiency of operations throughout their head office in Tokyo, Japan.

The J Marine NeCST (pronounced ‘Next’) is a system that will enable the company to manage, digitize and share a whole host of operational information to the NYK management teams. The system has been designed in collaboration with Japan Radio Co. Ltd and installation has been completed on NYK Group vessels for sea trials, and will soon be implemented on land for the first time.

The Group says that having the J Marine NeCST system on both vessels and on land will enable the Toyko head office to promptly receive and interpret operational data and enable them to react quickly resulting in the optimum quality of safety and incident management.

The timely procurement of detailed information and the correct management of this information is a vital first action response to an emergency. Before this system was in place, information was primarily received via telephone or email, however, the Center for Crisis Management and offices located on land will now have an almost immediate access to a wide range of information and data.

To ensure that the company is prepared for rapid and extensive crisis management, NYK will further utilize the system by continuing to develop applic prompt and timely manner.
