DB Schenker Opens its Largest Logistics Center in Madrid

DB Schenker Opens its Largest Logistics Center in Madrid
Danny Gill

DB Schenker has opened its largest logistics center in Madrid, Spain on a 60,000 m2 plot. It will be home to the domestic and international land transport and project operations, as well as the capital’s air and ocean freight. DB Schenker currently has almost 1,000 employees in Spain who are divided among 71 branches, 29 of which are DB Schenker’s own offices, making it one of the country’s biggest transportation companies. This new terminal employs more than 150 people and represents an investment of 22 million euro.

The size of Madrid’s new logistics center, located in the Vicálvaro district, is equivalent to that of eight football fields. Two warehouses and an office building are distributed across the space. The first warehouse has been enabled as a cross-docking area and occupies 10,170 m2, with the option to expand the space to 12,200 m2. This area has 112 hydraulic bays for loading and unloading, as well as an area dedicated to the movement of trucks and vans.

The second warehouse is used to store air and ocean freight shipments. It measures 1,680 m2, with the possibility of increasing the size to 2,900 m2, and looks similar to the cross-docking area, both outside and inside.
